Season 2 of “House of Anubis” Brings More Mystery, More Romance and More Drama! A Few of Its Stars Answer Our Q and A!
Nickelodeon has a world-wide hit with the addictive “House of Anubis.” Centering on a group of Prep School classmates in England, the show brings mystery and drama episode after episode. There’s also a healthy dose of romance and teen angst thrown in for good measure.
Season two of the popular series introduces new characters and a hidden treasure that will set the tight group on a new journey of discovery. Episodes began airing in January, Monday through Friday at 7:00PM on Nickelodeon. Tune in tonight to see what you have been missing!
We recently had the opportunity to pose some questions to four of the show’s talented cast. Nathalia Ramos (Nina), Ana Mulvoy Ten (Amber), Eugene Simon (Jerome), and newcomer Burkely Duffield (Eddie) put pen to paper and revealed the following!
Nathalia Ramos
When did you realize that you want to be an actor/actress?
My parents are both in the music industry so I grew up around music and always wanted to be a singer. Acting was just kind of the natural step for me. From the moment I went to my first acting class at seven, I fell in love.
What were some of your first professional jobs?
I started in musical theater in Miami. My first TV job was “Arrested Development.” What a great introduction to the TV world, so inspiring to work with such a talented cast and some of the best writers in Hollywood. I knew this was what I wanted to do.
How would you describe your character on HOA?
Nina really comes out of her shell this season. She is caught in this crazy adventure, facing life and death situations so she is really forced to assume her role as leader and be strong and courageous. We really get to see her true colors shine and it’s very exciting.
How do you prepare to play your character?
Every scene is different. People always ask me if it’s hard to remember my lines, but that’s the easy part! The hard part is what comes after all the character work and finding the emotions for that moment.
What do you guys do on set for fun?
We don’t have much downtime, but I always have a book with me. I love to read any chance I get, usually when I’m sitting around between takes
Can you tell us what’s in store for your character in Season 2?
This season all the stakes are higher. Nina and the Sibuna’s are fighting for their lives. It’s a whole new level of mystery, adventure, drama and lots of romance too. It’s fun because there are so many story lines tied together.
What do you do in your spare time?
When I’m not filming, I’m at college studying Political Science. I love the diversity between my work and my studies and somewhere down the line, I would love to combine the two.

Can you comment on what it’s like being part of the Nickelodeon family?
I have been close with the Nick family since even before Anubis when I did “True Jackson.” Now being a part of this amazing show and working with such great people is any actor’s dream. Nickelodeon is really like one big family and it’s such a great feeling to be working in that kind of environment.
Do you have any other projects coming up that we should watch for?

Ana Mulvoy Ten
When did you realize that you want to be an actor/actress?
When I was about six, I loved playing different characters and doing the school plays so I joined my local theater school.
What were some of your first professional jobs?
I started doing theater productions and then did a few guest star roles for ITV and the BBC. My first big role was on a Spanish show filmed in Madrid called “Casas de la Vida.”
How would you describe your character on HOA?
Amber is sweet, funny and loyal to her friends. She loves Sibuna and the mystery and adventure at Anubis House.
How do you prepare to play your character?
Most of the preparation was done before I started shooting - just really getting to know in essence who Amber is. But now I know her inside and out, it’s easy. I just learn my lines and work on various ways to say my lines.
What do you guys do on set for fun?
The actual scenes are the most fun. I usually just have a stack of books to read when I’m not filming. It’s fun, I promise. We just hang out though and talk and joke around.
Can you tell us what’s in store for your character in Season 2?
Amber is a little more sophisticated and smart in season 2. The stakes are high so Sibuna becomes more serious. Amber really tries to help Nina and works really hard to solve the mystery.
What do you do in your spare time?
I love martial arts! That’s my new hobby. I want to have a black belt so that’s what I’ve been doing in my spare time. I love learning new languages too.

Can you comment on what it’s like being part of the Nickelodeon family?
It’s so much fun and we’re all so lucky to be a part of it. I’ve made some of my best friends on the show that I would never have met otherwise, so it has really changed my life.
Do you have any other projects coming up that we should watch for?
I just moved to LA permanently, so I’m hoping there will be other projects soon. I just really want to play as many characters as possible and have fun doing what I love.
Eugene Simon
When did you realize that you want to be an actor/actress?
Bizarrely, I realized I wanted to be an actor 5 years after I’d been doing it. Becoming an actor at 8 was such a young age that only once I’d finished filming “My Family and Other Animals” did it dawn on me that I really do want to continue doing this.
What were some of your first professional jobs?
Well, my first job was theatre. The young and naive Archie in James Joyce’s “Exiles.” And then I started going onto adverts, then my first series for the BBC. By 12, I was fortunate enough to be the “Young Casanova.” I’d probably say my first few jobs varied hugely but I was too young to quite realize it.
How would you describe your character on HOA?
Jerome is damaged goods but simultaneously he’s a very strong character with great ambition and intelligence. Because of his somewhat neglected childhood, he can become emotionally attached to certain people as a means of finding the love that he has been denied in the past. But Jerome’s scheming prankster charm is of course something we often encounter.
How do you prepare to play your character?
An old friend from my own boarding school shares a similar ‘character’ to Jerome. Occasionally I use him as a reference but my preparation is much more about imagining the scenario the script gives me.
What do you guys do on set for fun?
You need to get to know our cast and crew to appreciate the amount of fun you can have. Picture the funniest person you have ever met or still know and multiply them by 40. It’s just the jokes that are the most fun.
Can you tell us what’s in store for your character in Season 2?
Jerome will have to face a few demons this season, both from his past and from the mystery that unfolds. I do hope you will see Jerome in a new light and maybe enjoy going deeper into his personal life.

Can you comment on what it’s like being part of the Nickelodeon family?
I become more and more astounded at how wonderfully committed Nick fans are so more than anything I hope our show only makes them more loving of the family.
Do you have any other projects coming up that we should watch for?
For those that watch it, my role as “Lancel Lannister” in “Game of Thrones: Season 2” will be out in April. My role as the “Young Ben Hur” is also scheduled to be released this year.
Burkely Duffield
When did you realize that you want to be an actor/actress?
After my very first audition I knew that this was the job that I wanted to be doing the rest of my life, or at least strive to be doing for as long as possible.
What were some of your first professional jobs?
Lots of commercials like McDonalds, Hotwheels, etc. and then smaller movie roles and a lead in a TV Christmas movie.
How would you describe your character on HOA?
Punk/rock styled “rebel” who comes to the house and likes to eat, sleep, flirt with girls and cause trouble.
How do you prepare to play your character?
I take experiences from my own life, combined with some of my close friends’ personality traits and I have created a personal story line for Eddie and how he thinks and lives his life.
What do you guys do on set for fun?
Hang out together in the greenroom, play Wii, Supersmash Bros and Mario Kart with the guys.
Can you tell us what’s in store for your character in Season 2?
Well, Eddie is introduced this season so we get to learn everything about him. He at first causes a little bit of trouble and is quite mischievous to gain acceptance. But when he settles in, you see he isn’t a bad guy and really just wants to fit in and make new friends.
What do you do in your spare time?

Can you comment on what it’s like being part of the Nickelodeon family?
AMAZING! It’s a dream come true to be a part of such an amazing show and company family and I couldn’t be more honored and grateful.
Do you have any other projects coming up that we should watch for?
Yes! I have a Nickeloden film “Rags” that hopefully will be released this year as well which is a Hip Hop musical movie that everyone should definitely check out. And after that, hopefully more projects in the future, but till then, who knows.
I thought it would have been more difficult, but the cast and crew were so welcoming and friendly and they have made the most amazing home away from home for me!
I am a fun and overly enthusiastic character named Lloyd who is at first an antagonist in the movie as an evil stepbrother. But, he really is pressured by his brother and dad to act in that way and eventually he stands up for himself to be who he wants to be.
