Unravel The Mystery That is "Emergence!" Premieres on ABC Sept. 24 at 10PM!
We Chat With "Emerging" Star Ashley Aufderheide About This Brand New Thriller
On September 24, at 10:00PM, ABC premieres a new mystery-thriller called "Emergence" that fans will love to theorize about together. The story begins when "Jo Evans," the Chief of Police of a small Northeastern town, arrives at the scene of a mysterious plane crash and finds a child who has no recollection of who she is or the accident. They call her "Piper" and "Jo" takes her home where her father "Ed" and her daughter, "Mia" are waiting with lots of questions. The answers, however, are not easy to come by and a lot of people will have a lot of questions as strange things continue to happen regarding the crash and "Piper's" true identity.

We had a blast chatting with actress, Ashley Aufderheide, who plays "Mia" on "Emergence." To say that Ashley is excited for everyone to see the show that the cast and crew have worked so hard to put together is a massive understatement. We hope you enjoy learning more about this actress and the new show as much as we did!
Though she will turn 15 in November, Ashley has already built quite a resume with projects that had her working alongside some of Hollywood's biggest names, like Morgan Freeman (she played his Granddaughter in "Going in Style"). She gained critical acclaim for her role in a film called, "Infinitely Polar Bear" starring Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana. After crisscrossing the country to audition for the role of "Mia," the teen who lives in Connecticut, was beside herself with excitement when she learned she landed a major network, primetime series.
Ashely was actually at an audition for another project when she found out that she had booked "Emergence." "Suddenly my Mom gets this call," Ashley remembers of the day that would change her life forever. "My Mom looks at me, and she has the biggest smile on her face. I'm like, 'What? What is it? Tell me what it is,'" she recalls, laughing. "And she says, 'Ashley, you got 'Emergence!!' And we were so excited! My whole family was rejoicing. I called my Grandma and we were all freaking out! And we thought, 'Oh my gosh! This is insane! This is what we've been working so hard for!"
Finding the things she had in common with her character helped Ashley develop the fictional teenager before filming even started. "So, Mia is an only child, and I'm an only child as well, so right off the bat, I totally related to her for the audition process. That was very helpful. 'Mia' is very welcoming and sweet and you can really see that in the show because when 'Piper' comes, 'Mia' is so used to being an only child, and suddenly all of the attention is on this new kid, but she's still takes 'Piper' in, kind of, as a little sister and she gives her her necklaces and really makes her feel welcome. You can really see the development of her relationship. You never see 'Mia' being jealous of 'Piper' in any way. You never see her in a 'rude' way.
It's a good thing that the premiere date is close-at-hand, because it has been hard for the enthuastic teen to keep the secrets of the show under wraps! "I can't wait for them to see the special effects first of all," she gushes when asked what she is most excited for her friends and family to see. "I can't wait for my friends to see it! I'm thinking that we should all watch it together when it premieres, on September 24 at 10:00PM on ABC," she laughs, already plugging like a pro. "I can't wait for my friends and my family to see how my character progresses and see what she does. If I could, I would just say everything now. I can't! I can't wait for them to see everything because I think they will really be surprised!"
