"iParty with Victorious" / Noah Munck Interview
“iParty With Victorious” Gives Nickelodeon Fans The Best of Both Worlds!
It’s the Nickelodeon 90-minute crossover that can’t be missed! The gang from iCarly travels from Seattle to Los Angeles to visit Carly’s new boyfriend ‘Steven.’ Once they arrive in L.A., Carly is met with an unfortunate surprise. Steven is also dating Tori. The iCarly crew and the gang from Hollywood Arts are brought together to work this messy situation out.
Meanwhile, guest star Kenan Thompson (who got his start on Nickelodeon as well) offers to let Andre have a party at his new house. A mistaken tweet invites way too many people and the boys have a huge party problem on their hands.
This special Nickelodeon event promises lots of laughs and of course a ton of music. Check out a promo for this movie here:
In honor of this special Nick event, we chat with Noah Munck who plays the incredibly funny “Gibby” on the show. Find out more about Noah and his role on “iCarly” below.
Noah Munck Brings “Gibby” to “iCarly” Full Time!
Noah Munck is most recognizable as “Gibby” on “iCarly” but has a resume that most young actors drool over. The funny, talented young man got his start accidently when waiting for his sister turned into a life-changing career. “I would take hip-hop classes while my sister would take acting classes,” Noah tells us on a break from filming the fifth season of “iCarly.” “That’s where I got my awesome dance moves from,” he jokes. “I would have to wait for my sister while she continued her acting classes. I’d have to sit outside for like an hour until she got out. One day, the teacher called me in and she said ‘Hey, why don’t you check this out?’ I got into it and she thought I was really good at it. I got an agent and I started from there. It’s been the best thing!”
Noah quickly landed several commercials, some that he was able to see and some that he couldn’t. “The first thing I ever did was a German Volkswagen commercial. So I never saw it but that was my first commercial. The thing that really started me was this ‘Got Milk’ commercial that aired nationally. That was probably like my first big job.”
From there, he expanded to guest starring roles on popular television shows where he learned how to treat actors from the pros. “On ‘ER’ it was really cool. That was one of the shows I guest-starred on. It was really cool to go in and see like John Stamos acting. It was a really cool experience.”
Noah auditioned for a one time guest appearance on the popular Nickelodeon show “iCarly” playing a loveable character named “Gibby.” He landed the part and was thrilled to join the cast for a week. “I came in for one episode, just planning to go home and like ‘Oh cool! I get to have this one little experience it was really fun.’ But then, they kept calling me back for like two seasons I was there every week. And then they finally made me a series regular for this season. It was really cool.”
Now he is spending a good chunk of time with the “iCarly” family making new episodes for audiences to enjoy. “It’s three days of rehearsal. So we do the table read on Monday. Three days of rehearsal and run through, where we go through the whole episode and the producers watch it. Thursday/Friday we shoot. That’s pretty much the basic week.” He also has to fit school in there as well. “I have school on set about five hours a day, so I just kind of balance that in with acting, so that’s how that works.”
Noah had a blast filming the “iParty With Victorious” event. “It’s gong to be amazing. It’s basically ‘iCarly’ meets ‘Victorious.’ It’s just going to be off the hook! Everybody has to watch it! Nobody can miss it because it’s going to be amazing.”
It wasn’t the first time the gang had met. Both of their shows were created by Dan Schneider whose previous creations include “All That,” “Zoey 101” and “Drake and Josh.” “We’ve met them before because Dan had us meet at parties before hand,” Noah says of the “Victorious” cast. “But this was the first time we actually got to hang out together and get to know each other.”
Having both casts on set for filming proved to be hectic, but more importantly, fun!! “It was just crazy! There were so many people! So many different dressing rooms! Crazy stuff! Just crazy schedules! It was insane!”
“The ‘Victorious’ cast is so much fun to hang out with,” he summarizes. “They’re just a ball of energy. It was crazy. It was off-the-hook, party all the time.” He definitely thinks doing another crossover would be a good idea. “We should just have one big Nickelodeon movie where we all come together,” he suggests. “That would be fun!”
When not working, Noah’s life is fairly normal. “I do the normal stuff. Hang out with friends. Play some sports. Play video games. Just chill out pretty much, just like any other kid would.”
He is also fortunate enough to get to lend his time and energy to incredibly worthy causes. “I’m involved with one [charity] called Camp Del Corazon. The episode of ‘ER’ I was in was about heart disease and I was one of the heart disease patients. They really had kids from the camp there. I got involved with that charity from that. It’s just been really cool. I go out to the camp every summer and hang out with the kids for two days. Also, I’m involved with my church, with this organization called ‘Global Mission’ and I go over to Haiti and I build basketball courts and hang out with the kids there and just like rebuild from the earthquake.”
He also loves interacting with his fans. He’s active on Twitter (@munckytown), and Facebook (www.Facebook.com/noahmunck). He also has had great experiences with running into fans while he is out and about. “All my fans pretty much have it down. They just walk up and say ‘Hey! What’s up? Are you on iCarly?’ They’re all pretty much nice about it. There are like 5 % that are mean about it but most of them are all just really cool about it. You know, just like walk up ‘Hey! How are you doing? Are you Noah Munck?” And then I take a picture with them.”
There’s no slowing this talent down. He has a new film coming out soon, more notable commercials and of course, another season of “iCarly.” “My new film coming out is called ‘Bad Teacher.’ It’s with Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel. It will be really funny and will be good, good laughs. It will be a big, big movie. [Also] Just some more TrueGreen commercials [will be out]. My ‘Bobby Sinclair’ character aired nationally. We’ll shoot some more of those and have those out soon.”
What we he love to see happen on this season of “iCarly?” More big name guest stars (last season featured Jane Lynch and Jack Black). “Hopefully, Steve Carrell comes on,” he says of he dream guest stars. “Steve Carell, [and] Will Ferrell, that’s who I want to guest-star.”
He also wouldn’t mind finding a girl this season. “Gibby’s progressively become more of a ladies man,” he explains. “So probably a kissing scene for Gibby. That would be pretty amazing.”
For now, Noah is enjoying being part of an entertainment legacy like Nickelodeon. “It’s amazing. It’s really cool. Nickelodeon, I’ve watched them ever since I was a little kid. It’s just so cool now to be a part of that.”
If there is anyone reading this who is pondering acting either as a career or as a hobby, Noah says “Go For It” and offers this advice. “Well, they should definitely take acting classes if they’ve never had experience in it. Then get a talent agent. Then never give up because you are always going to have disappointment. Never give up in the acting world! Just keep pushing on!”
Tune in on June 11 to see Noah and the rest of the “iCarly” and “Victorious” gangs in the “iParty with Victorious” at 8:00PM on Nickelodeon. Noah promises it’s a good time. Watching this talented actor never disappoints.
