Meet Travis Turner, The Actor Who Played “Marley’s” Human Friend “Bodi!”
Travis Turner is a hard-working young actor that you might have seen when he guest-starred on shows like “Supernatural” and “Caprica.” He had a fun time playing “Bodi Grogan” and interacting with his canine co-stars in “Marley & Me: The Puppy Years.”
Recently, the busy guy (who makes music and performs in his spare time) answered a few questions for us so we could all get to know him better! Find out more about this talented cutie below.
When did you realize that you wanted to be an actor?
When I was like 6 years old. School plays. I did community theatre and some professional theatre. I never lived in a city big enough with a film industry. Until the last few years I was able to pursue film and television. I still do some theatre as well to keep sharp. I just love to entertain; I am so happy and privileged to be acting for a living.
Were your family and friends supportive?
Yes my Dad and Mom always were supportive. They totally planted the seed in my head and always pushed me to believe in myself. My brother and sisters have always been supportive. And of course my friends have been huge support.
What were some of your first professional jobs?
Well the restaurant biz is always an actor’s friend. Bus Boy, Expo, Server. I also was a painting Forman on the drilling rigs trying to save money for film school. One of my last jobs was a traveling vacuum salesman for Kirby. I did well too. I won lots of prizes as well as a trip to Las Vegas and San Francisco.

What can you tell us about Marley & Me: The Puppy Years?
Marley & Me: The Puppy Years is a look into the world of Marley when he was a puppy. My character Bodi is the nephew of John Grogan and Jennifer Grogan from the first Marley and Me. Bodi’s mother goes away on a business meeting and leaves him responsible for Marley. They stay at his Grandpas where a series of learning and funny events happen. Marley and Bodi meet Kaycee and her puppies. They all end up entering in the Ultimate Puppy Championship. Meanwhile a bunch of funny Germans are plotting up a scheme along the way. In the movie there are lots of new dogs as well. It is fun watch for the whole family for sure, everyone likes cute puppies.
How would you describe your character?
Bodi is a good kid. He likes to skate and play video games. He means well and is trying to learn how to be responsible enough to have his own dog.
Are there any similarities between you and Bodi?
Yeah they are some similarities. We both skateboard for one. I also really like dogs. The story from my characters point of view is learning how to become responsible. I know about becoming that for sure.
Once you found out that you got the role, how did you research playing this character?
I got to work with the dogs and the trainers prior. A big part of the role is their relationship together. I also do my normal prep as for any role. I break down the script and scenes. I have to understand the objectives and character relationships. The style of the film determines your acting choices as well.
What was it like working with canine co-stars?
It was fun and challenging.
Do you have any pets?
I used to have a miniature schnauzer named Spike. He was awesome!
Have you ever had a pet like Marley?
Yeah totally my dog Spike when he was a puppy. He just chewed everything he could find. He also at times acted as if he were human. He had a very funny personality.
Do you have a favorite scene in the movie?
One of my favorites is the scene where my Grandpa has Spam flipped on him by Marley.

What do you do in your spare time?
When I am not acting I am working on my music. I actually wrote and rapped on the end credit song on Marley and Me 2.
Can fans find you on-line like Twitter and/or Facebook?
Yes you can find me @travisturner87 and Supporters of Travis Turner on facebook. You can also check out my Hip Hop @thereallittlet and Little T on facebook.
Do you have any other projects coming up?
I have just wrapped on a few other projects this year. I was the lead on another film called “Christmas in Castleberry” with an amazing cast. One of the stars was Roger Moore. I also just shot a movie produced by Nick Cannon called “Rags” a Hip Hop fairy tale. I was able to rap the intro to the film and I wrote the intro rhymes too. I am pretty stoked because I enjoy my Hip Hop. To combine the love of acting and rapping together is a real dream come true. I am working on an album as well.
What advice would you give to aspiring actors?
“Persistence overcomes Resistance” and remember an “Attitude of Gratitude”
The folks at Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment sent over a few fun “Marley” activities! Have fun playing some human games!
