You might remember actress Emily Osment from the Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana," but now she's all grown up and staring in a new show on ABC Family. "Young and Hungry" premieres Wednesday, June 25, at 8:00pm ET/PT. The show follows young chef "Gabi" as she follows her dream and starts her career.

Emily gave us a description of what the show is about, and her character "Gabi." "It is about a young girl living in San Francisco, following her dream to be the best chef she can be. She gets this incredible opportunity to work in the home of Josh Kaminski, a billionaire, as his personal chef. She gets forced into this world she's never been a part of, and throughout the season it covers how broke she is."

"And it takes her hours to get ready in the morning and throw together a cute outfit for work because she just doesn't have anything," Emily continues. "Then this sort of love triangle happens between her boss and her boss' fiance and herself. She gets herself in a lot of trouble and she's trying to get out of it, but she is also enjoying it."

"Gabi is a mess," she admits. "She's the most loveable mess you'll ever meet in your life. She is incredibly driven, and she has got a huge heart. Sometimes that can get her into a lot of trouble, but she's a people pleaser with an incredible goal. She is making ends meet and doing the best she can as a 20 year old who has no idea what she's doing. I think we can all relate to that, because the 20s are terrifying. It's fun to capture that on screen, and see this girl try to get her life together. Too often we find these characters on TV that are perfect. This girl is not, and that makes it a lot more fun to watch."

Learning how to cook takes more than one day and a lot of work. Emily told us a little about what it took to get ready for the part, and how she related to "Gabi." "I looked into cooking and that kind of thing. It was more for the physicality of it than knowing exactly what's in every dish and having the exact knowledge of a chef. It was more for physically being able to pull of the mixing and the chopping and the baking. On set there were people who do that for a living who were able to help me through it while we were shooting. It was more capturing the essence of a young, 20s girl who is putting it all on this life goal. I know I have known what I wanted to do since I was a child. I have had one goal my whole life, and so has Gabi."

Besides all of the character work that goes into a part, filming a show has a lot of challenges on the technical end. Emily tells us what kind of work goes into making a sitcom. "That is a world that is very technical. There is a lot to learn. It seems silly, but when you're shooting an episode a week and you only get two and a half days of rehearsal then you pre-shoot and do a live audience taping. It's a lot. There is definitely a schedule and a regiment to this and it's a hard one to learn. It is a defining part to this type of comedy, and it feels like doing a play every night. I think after doing five years of it, it became more comfortable for me. We don't' have any free time. If we do have some free time, I'm learning lines. Being on the set is very 'go go go.' It's my first time being the lead of anything, and it's terrifying but it's so exciting."

What can viewers look forward to this first season? "This is a new chunk of Gabi's life that she's never experienced before. She goes through all the basic blunders that you go through when you're in your young 20s. She has her first job. She makes due. Over the course of the season there are a couple love interests for her. Ashley Tisdale is guest staring, Jesse McCartney is guest staring. It is just magnificent; I am having the best time. ABC Family is amazing to work with, they turn out some of the best shows. I feel very very fortunate to be a part of it."

Take this fun journey with Gabi! Be sure to catch the premiere of "Young and Hungry" Wednesday, June 25th, on ABC Family at 8:00pm ET/PT.
