Hunter Hayes Has A One Track Mind! The Life of Someone Who Eats, Sleeps, and Breathes Music!
By: Susan J. Yeager
There is a term used in the music industry where artists are referred to as “The total package.” This generally means that a performer can sing, play at least one instrument relatively well, possibly write a few good songs, and yes, they are generally good-looking too. To say that Hunter Hayes is the total package is a huge understatement. It’s more like he’s the total package, the ribbon tied around it, and the delivery guy that brings it to your doorstep. It’s a good thing that Hunter eats, sleeps and breathes music because it’s pretty obvious that he was put on Earth to create and perform and share this with the world.
Superbowl Sunday
Are you ready to watch the big game? Got your snacks, wings, foam fingers and lucky team jerseys? Not a football fan but just watching for the commercials? Maybe you’re just checking in at halftime to see Madonna. Or maybe you’re just watching the beginning to see Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert performing "America the Beautiful," and Kelly Clarkson belting out the National Anthem. Whatever the case may be, Superbowl Sunday is getting its game on Sunday, February 5 on NBC. Tom Brady leads the New England Patriots against Eli Manning and the New York Giants in a head to head battle for top team of 2012.
Madonna performs the halftime show and Kelly Clarkson will sing "American the Beautiful" at the big game.
Superbowl XLVI coverage begins at 2:00PM ET on NBC
After Game Fun
Once the game is over and done, and your favorite team won, or lost *sadface* the action doesn’t stop for NBC. “The Voice” debuts its second season, with all the coaches (Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Adame Levine and Blake Shelton) returning for duty, and Carson Daly back as host. This year’s crop of mentors includes big names like Lionel Richie, Robin Thicke, Jewel, Kelly Clarkson, Miranda Lambert, Alanis Morrisette, Ne-Yo and Kenneth “Babface” Edmonds.
“The Voice” premieres immediately following the coverage of the Superbowl game on NBC and will air Mondays at 8PM ET/PT weekly.

Celebrating Black History Month
Since 1976 America has been reflecting , studying and redefining the role of African Americans in history during the month of February. It is a time to stop and remember the importance of people and events in history that shaped the way we treat one another even today, and beyond. For more please visit www.naacp.org
Black History Month on Nickelodeon
In honor of Black History Month, Nickelodeon will present a series of interstitials starring Cymphonique Miller (How to Rock), Leon Thomas III (Victorious) and Carlos Knight (Supah Ninjas), who lend their talents to showcase poetry inspired by prominent African-Americans and their contributions to our world. These spots will air across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons and Nick.com, from Friday, Feb. 3, through Wednesday, Feb. 29.
Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks, writer Phillis Wheatley and legendary musician Miles Davis are the notable African Americans featured in this year’s spots as part of Nickelodeon’s ongoing Voices campaign www.nick.com/voices, a youth-led movement to educate viewers by paying homage to those who have impacted our world. Additionally, Nickelodeon partnered with Urban Word NYC, an organization that presents literary arts education and youth development programs, to produce the original poems.
3,000 Students Attend 'Red Tails' Screening to Celebrate Black History Month
To launch Black History Month, 3,000 students from Southern California School Districts attended a screening of Red Tails across 18 screens at the AMC Del Amo Theatre on February 1, 2012. The George Lucas-produced action-adventure film is inspired by the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first all-African American military aviators and support crew in history who served with distinction in World War II. Joining the students were original Tuskegee Airmen and members of the film’s cast. The event came courtesy of the Variety Children’s Charity and was organized by Wini Jackson, an advocate in service to children. “Everyone came out of the movie with an appreciation and understanding of the heroic contributions of the Airmen,” said Jackson. “I heard students say to the original Tuskegee Airmen that were in attendance, ‘Thank you for what you did for us.’”
Ted Lumpkin and Levi Thornhill, both original Tuskegee Airmen, recounted their experiences to students, offering wise advice. “Education is the key,” said Thornhill. “Pay attention. If you got that, you don’t have to worry. You’ll never go hungry.” Educators agreed that the action-packed film connected with the students. “The power of cinema held their attention,” said Dolores Sheen, Principal of Sheenway School and Culture Center. “Some asked if there was a second part to the story. I told them that they were the second part to the story.” “I used to be a person who thought I couldn’t achieve things but I see that people achieve things no matter what. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what color you are or the race,” said eighth grader Maria Hernandez.
In attendance were Red Tails actors Nate Parker, Andre Royo and Marcus T. Paulk. “Seeing those 3,000-plus young people engaged in a film that promotes excellence, education and perseverance was an indescribable feeling!” said Parker. He especially applauded the contributions that made a school event like this possible. “I was deeply moved to learn that one gentleman made this event possible with his generous donation to Variety. It is my hope to see that more people like him join forces to ensure that other underserved youth across the nation have an opportunity to see Red Tails during Black History Month.” In theaters now, Red Tails is directed by Anthony Hemingway and executive produced by George Lucas.
Saying Goodbye to Chuck Bartowski...with Adam Baldwin and Chris Fedak
Adam Baldwin is geek royalty. His IMDB profile reads like the playlist on a Nerd Herd computer drive. A two-time (three if you’re counting the movie) Joss Whedon alum – “Angel” and “Firefly,” the voice of countless video games, comic book adaptation cartoons and a Transformer on the new weekly series Transformers Prime (Cartoon Network), and of course, Colonel John Casey on the NBC hit series “Chuck.”
Just appearing on these shows would be enough of a case for his status as an icon in the pop culture world of sci-fi / action / what have you, but it’s Baldwin’s portrayal of each character that makes fans take notice. He might be holding a sniper rifle, or a sawed off shotgun, but something in his demeanor, and his delivery of his character’s lines, gives him a lovable, and goofy quality.
Tonight marks the end of Adam’s 5-year run on “Chuck,” a show that was constantly on the bubble, but a fan favorite since first airing in 2007. He and “Chuck” co-creator/writer Chris Fedak recently chatted with the media about what fans can expect from both John Casey and the series finale.
